All Smith Y-type strainers utilize ductile iron construction with working pressure of 600 WOG,
test pressure 2000 PSI. Reducing sizes (3x 2-1/2, 2 x 2-1/2, etc.) are available which eliminate steel
bushing or extra fitting in the pipeline. This results in greater safety and less expense. The screen
is easy to replace due to exclusive narrow guide vane and taper in the strainer body. The screen glides
into position properly, preventing breakage or buckling which otherwise could allow foreign matter to
pass through without user's knowledge. All screens used are reinforced mesh that have less than half
the resistance-to-flow of other types made of perforated metal. All pipe threads in the strainer body
are lathe-cut so as to seal perfectly, and all Smith strainers are tested against leakage at the factory
before shipment.
Strainer screens are available in either BRASS 40-MESH or 300-SERIES STAINLESS STEEL 80-MESH.
